My Practice

I see clients on a face-to-face basis and sessions are conducted out of a local Chiropractic clinic in the village of Bedwas; I also provide online counselling via video.  There are no limits on the number of sessions I provide but I will seek to make sure from time to time that the work we do is still useful from a therapeutic point of view.

I can see clients online through the Zoom application, though clients should consider how private and secure their surroundings are if they wish to proceed with having counselling online. This service is only available to UK residents.

My Approach & How this helps

My approach to counselling is largely Systemic, this means I work with the presenting issues of my clients in a relational way.  Systemic therapy seeks to understand how people create meaning through language; culture, class, race, gender, sexuality etc and how an individual's life experiences inform how they perceive the world. The approach considers the client, not as an individual but as an interconnected part of different social groups (family, friendships, professional and romantic relationships) and contexts.

My Systemic orientation takes a view that the power of conversation (sometimes referred to as a dialogical approach) in collaboration with myself, may create new meanings and a different way of relating to life's problems that hopefully bring about new helpful solutions in the lives of my clients.

Arranging a Session

Clients can email to make an appointment. Leave a phone number if you would like to discuss or raise any concerns about starting therapy before our session.

I have a policy of not accepting third party referrals, the person requesting therapy must be the one who will be attending.  In relation to couples either partner may make the referral, but both must wish to attend.

Payment Methods

I accept cash or debit card. Alternatively, an online payment link can be sent to your mobile phone.

Useful Info

I understand that therapy can be an expensive business, especially if you attend every week. When I was seeing a counsellor I attended every four weeks. This made paying for therapy more affordable.

While it is recommended that people attend therapy every week, I am flexible and allow a maximum four-week gap between sessions.

It does mean therapy will take longer but I feel it is important that you have some control over the process, where possible.
